1/7 - The scene where Maddie and Jax first meet on the side of the road and Maddie uses the ruse of a vibrating phone and the need to be somewhere else in a hurry to get out of an awkward situation, only to have the phone ring right in the middle of her fake conversation was absolutely hilarious. I started reading Simply Irresistible this morning, sitting in my car because I arrived to my nail appointment 15 minutes early. I happened to park right next to a busy café with outdoor seating. I was happily reading away when I came to that scene and because the other two books in the series weren't really hilarious, the funny was able to creep up on my and I kind of burst out laughing in a scream type laugh and then because the scene was an embarrassed type of funny I hit myself in the head with the open book (don't worry it was a paperback) in an instinctive attempt to hide my face (as if the embarrassment was mine, not Maddie's). Of course the café patrons watched all of this with stunned bemusement (kind of like what Jax felt after meeting Maddie) so that when I lowered the book I almost put it back up again to hide my own embarrassment.. To be continued... 2/7 - This was headboard-shakingly funny. Reading in bed last night was slightly dangerous to the stability of my bed and the paint job on the wall. 3/7 - Wow! This was the best of the trilogy about the sisters and I can see myself reading this again and again. I could totally see myself in Maddie - her love of chips (I don't obsess over chips, but I have other food obsessions), her insecurities, her ability to get herself into embarrassing situations - and am now just waiting for a Jax of my own, so that Maddie and I can be a true matching pair.
