I only managed to get halfway through this biography which may not allow me to form an accurate opinion. However, from what I read of Marc Eliot's description of Cary Grant, I found it to be a gossip-column style biography with too many gibes at the actor's sexuality and not enough focus on his style and gift as an actor. When he did find time to focus on Cary Grant rather than the Hollywood social functions of this actor's time, he made it clear in many instances that others were responsible for Grant's popularity and opportunities, begging the question "Why do we care about Grant then?"
