OK made for Lifetime TV abused-woman-gets-revenge film. Dukakis raises the film a notch.

Disappointing. This review contains SPOILERS of the graphic nature of this film. Tess Thorne is a famous murder mystery novelist. She writes cozy mysteries starring a group of old ladies in a knitting circle. She gives a talk at a little library near Colewich, Massachusetts and the head librarian there, Ramona, suggests she take a side road home which would be shorter and less traffic. During that 12 mile stretch, two serial killers have left boards with nails in them. She turns a corner and drives over the boards, which catch in her tires and knock her off the road. There is no cell reception here, just an abandoned old gas station. A van passes her by but then a pickup stops. Out hops a 6'4" 400 lb man who mercilessly beats and rapes her over a period of about 20 hours as his brother takes photos. Believing her to be dead, he drags her body into a drainage pipe down at the creek behind the gas station. He leaves her there and once he's gone she stops playing dead. She has to crawl over three other dead bodies to get out of the drainage pipe. She goes home, takes a shower, and begins plotting her revenge. Ramona turns out to be the mother of the two psychotic brothers who rape and torture women, taking their photos and jewelry. What was particularly irritating about this movie was that Tess talks to her novel character Dorene and her GPS unit Tom throughout the film. In seeking her revenge, Tess leaves evidence everywhere. The loose ends were wrapped up a little too neatly, especially with Dorene and Tom telling her where to clean up and what to do.

I remember going through the catalogue and seeing this title and thinking, ooh that sounds familiar. Turns out it was based on Stephen Kings's book which I read, and that got me interested. I wanted to see how they play this book out and it was quite alright. Really haunting and intense. I liked how they portrayed Doreen's character and I thought that the main actress was fantastic in her role. The way she went from bright and bubbly to murderous and serious was intense but she pulled it off very well.

Sounds odd unless the serial killer planned her tire failure.

Violent rape scene(s) so beware. Strange, slightly creepy. Overall I'd give it a C+
