"Toni and Gretchen are the couple everyone envied in high school. They've been together forever. They never fight. They're deeply, hopelessly in love. When they separate for their first year at college--Toni to Harvard and Gretchen to NYU--they're sure they'll be fine. Where other long-distance relationships have fallen apart, theirs is bound to stay rock-solid. The reality of being apart, though, is very different than they expected. Toni, who identifies as genderqueer, meets a group of transgender upperclassmen and immediately finds a sense of belonging that has always been missing, but Gretchen struggles to remember who she is outside their relationship. While Toni worries that Gretchen won't understand Toni's new world, Gretchen begins to wonder where she fits in this puzzle. As distance and Toni's shifting gender identity begin to wear on their relationship, the couple must decide--have they grown apart for good, or is love enough to keep them together?"--Amazon.com.

I appreciated that the book addressed pronouns but thought that it went about it the wrong way. Definitely not written by a trans or nonbinary person but points for trying, I suppose.

I'm trans and nonbinary and this book strongly reads like it was written by a cis person who hasn't really spent much time talking to trans folks. So much of it rang so false or just seemed totally confused (I don't think the author understands how gender-neutral pronouns work, like at all?). Please let us tell our own stories.

Such an important book that lets you into the life of a genderqueer teen and their girlfriend. Emotional, heartbreaking and realistic.

Coarse Language: Not too much- a couple s**t and a** and one broken off f word.

Sexual Content: Toni and their girlfriend have sex, this is both mentioned in reference and also in vague detail. Later in the book a girl and boy have sex, nothing too graphic.
