I have not always like Sandra Bullock in a lot of her work. However, this is such a difference from a lot of her work. I truly liked Sandra Bullock in this movie and believe the script was written just for her! No spoiler alert needed: Maggie was funny as well as believable. Andrew would not have been my choice for the script but he played his part well. It became predictable halfway through but was good enough that you still wanted to watch. Betty White is a much classier lady than they make her out to be in this film and I am tired of scripts where she is to play either a vulgar or senile old person. Betty White is an actress well worthy of better parts. But at least she got a good piece of writing towards the end. I would recommend this movie if you are in the mood for a slightly funny (not hilarious) romantic comedy.

In this dramatic romantic comedy, Sandra Bullock plays Margaret Tate, a hard working business woman who is at risk of being deported back to Canada. Reluctant to go, she forces her assistant Andrew Paxton who is played by Ryan Reynolds, to marry her for her visa. He agrees, but only as long as she follows a few of his requests too, including Margaret needing to meet his family in Alaska. With an immigration officer following them closely, they must work together to ensure that they get married without a hitch. This movie was released in 2009 and was directed by Anne Fletcher, screenplay by Pete Chiarelli.

After violating the terms of her work visa, book editor, Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock), is forced to move back to Canada. After some quick thinking, she tells the government that she is engaged to her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds). Andrew agrees to this “proposal” but first demands Margaret to publish his novel after their marriage. The “happy” couple fly to Sitka, Alaska to drop the news to Andrew’s family, where they then decide to get married in Alaska. Throughout the trip, Margaret and Andrew’s relationship blossoms, leading both of them to develop an attraction with one another. I absolutely loved this movie. It was funny, but it still managed to retain the romantic atmosphere.

This was a very funny movie. I enjoyed Sandra Bullock's acting. She really was the type of boss that made your life impossible, but deep down she had a soft spot and showed it.
Betty White was excellent and the scene with Sandra Bullock had me laughing so much tears were coming out of my eyes.
We need more movies like this.
